It seems like you can’t go down the game aisle anymore without finding about three or four alterations to your favorite classic games, where everything else is cashing in on retro charm. Hasbro among others refuses to be nostalgic and is always pushing boundaries and re-inventing its old standbys. One of these more successful revisions is the new Simon Flash, which has a classic Simon feature.
Simon is the game that reminds me of Close Encounters of the Third Kind, or Electric Light Orchestra. You pick. The original is a round disc with red, yellow, green and blue buttons that play a sequence of tones that you must repeat in order to move on to the next, more complicated sequence until you lose.
Simon Flash, is comprised of four separate buttons that communicate when pressed next to each other. You can use them in four distinct games, involving memory and problem solving skills. You can play against yourself, or challenge a friend. I love this new version of Simon and find it a little addicting. It’s a great way to pass the time anywhere you go and I appreciate how easy it is to store and the fact that batteries are included.
