Award (how much your claim may be worth):

Unknown, but it is an 8.5 million dollar lawsuit. You may be entitled to some of the settlement if you purchased a Groupon Voucher Between November 1, 2008 and December 1, 2011 The Settlement resolves litigation alleging, among other things, that Groupon and its Merchant Partners illegally used expiration dates and other restrictions on Groupon Vouchers, engaged in sales or advertising practices that violated various federal and state consumer laws and failed to make adequate or required disclosures in the terms of use or terms of sale or otherwise on Groupon’s website relating to Groupon vouchers.  The Defendants in the litigation deny the allegations of the plaintiffs, deny that they are liable in any way to plaintiffs and have asserted a number of defenses to plaintiffs’ claims.

Im really happy about this. I have sooo many deals that I was unable to redeem because they had expired on me. I bought a few on flowers before and then when they sent me the voucher number to redeem on their had where it expired within 2 months. If I knew that before I would not have bought them and as much as I had, as I was buying them to use in the future for birthdays . What is everyone elses experience on this?

I Aleta found their expiration dates to be clearly listed. I did have a prob where voucher expired and even though it said it would retain its paid value, in the end the merchant wouldn’t agree to it and Groupon issued credit for it. Dissapointed the terms didn’t pan out in the end but I wouldn’t say that they didn’t try to resolve the Doritoson.

Sorry about typos due to autocorrect…rewritten:

In my experience with Groupon it shows the expiration date before you purchase the deal…also I was under the impression that if you bought a deal and it expired you were still able to redeem it for the purchase price not the deal price
example you buy “the deal” $20 towards $40 worth of product, if the Groupon expired before you got to use it you would still have a $20 voucher for the products the deal was intended for…
so you really don’t loose anything and the deals that I’ve bought expire 6 months (usually) after I purchased the deal. They was one last year $6 for a year of Glamour Mag that I bought but you only had 1-2 weeks to use the deal so the day after I bought it I used it up bc I knew I wouldve forgotten to use it in time…
I do hope that everyone gets at least what they paid for if they did loose their money 🙁

I’ve never had a Groupon voucher expire on me mainly because I make sure to use it before it expires, so I really don’t understand this lawsuit. I wonder if I qualify if I’ve bought vouchers during that time frame but have been good about using my Groupon vouchers before they expire? I got the e-mail about the class action lawsuit in my inbox so I guess I qualify?
