Subway Sandwich- Gluten – Free Bread Review

June 28, 2012

Here is a picture of my gluten – free turkey sandwich from Subway :)

Subway now offers gluten – free bread and brownies at select locations ( it seems like it is a majority of locations)

The bread is about the size of a hamburger bun — make sure to get it toasted !!!

There is also a list of all the gluten- free toppings you can personalize your sammy.

Budget Savvy Diva Thoughts

I personally LOVED it.

Is it pricey – yes. It costs about the same as a normal turkey foot long — BUT the taste is very good.

It is some of the best gluten – free bread I have had. Also having another eating option when we are out of the house is a HUGE plus in my book.

There is only one type of bread to choose from – but as you can see it is VERY yummy!

The gluten-free sandwich buns come prepacked and individually wrapped. The same worker prepares the sandwich from beginning to end and is trained on how to cut the sandwich buns with a pre-wrapped knife for one time use, to avoid cross-contamination. The bread is made of egg whites, corn starch and tapioca starch.  It has been about a hour since I had the sandwich and I feel great! I am gluten – free for health reasons ;) My tummy is NOT a gluten fan.

This is not a paid review or anything like that — it is just something that I ate today and wanted to share with all of you :)

Can you tell me what part of the country you call home? I was trying to find it somewhere on the website but I couldn’t. You say you think this bread is at most Subway locations now?

I’m asking because last I knew it was still only in test locations in Texas, Oregon, Minnesota, and Washington and haven’t seen any press of a wider release. I see you’ve sponsored some Southern California events, so if you found this in a SoCal Subway, I would LOVE to know where! Thanks.

I had one today for the first time. I live in Texas, and the bread was fantastic. It reminded me a little of Schlotsky’s. Very tasty.

I wish I knew the carb count on it :)
