Don’t toss those butcher or steak knives just yet! If you’re sick of the rust spots, simply follow these steps to get rid of them (or, at least, make them less visible)!

  • Snag a small bottle of lemon juice (any brand, such as the Walmart Great Value brand)
  • Pour lemon juice in a tall enough glass so the knives fit standing up
  • Soak the knives for 5-10 minutes
  • With a scouring pad, scrub the rust spots off!

living in military housing, we’ve had some pretty beat up stainless steel sinks. with that as my springboard, here’s what i do: baking soda, water, and lemon juice. it will fizz at first, use a toothpick under all the cracks and q-tips in the holes. then i give the whole thing a light coat of oil – olive, canola, rapseed, whatever you happen to have handy.
