This time of year always makes me pause to reflect on the ideals, the dreams and the hard facts that have created America. As the identity of our nation is once again tested, and we look toward elections with anticipation about what we might become, we are summoned back by the holidays to remember where we came from, what this country means to us and over 2 million men and women who are on active duty, or in the reserves.
My dad fought in Vietnam as well as my uncle ( also my grandfather fought in World War 2) so service is part of my family. Here is my dad cooking dinner with me.
As we honored my dad, one of our country’s 23 million veterans, for Father’s day I was reminded of his service and I am so blessed to have him here cooking with me every week. My dad is my hero and I am thrilled to support efforts like Honoring Our Heroes. The Kroger family of stores has been working with the USO on behalf of our military community and has raised them more than $14 million since 2010. That’s the largest cumulative gift to the USO in its history of nearly 75 years!
I especially like shopping at Fred Meyer because of initiatives like this. I went to Fred Meyers and found everything I needed
They know that our service members and their families sacrifice so much and we can never truly thank them enough. We can support Honor Our Heroes by participating with Kleenex® Brand, who will donate a pocket pack to the USO for every 4x Kleenex® bundle pack you purchase at Fred Meyer and other Kroger stores.
There are also 13 giveaways! Each one of the Kroger family of stores will give away a prize valued at $100. You can enter by sharing your own “Hero Story” socially while tagging it with Kroger’s unique hashtag: #HonoringOurHeroes.
What’s your hero story?
