When To Share the News You’re Pregnant

Sharing is caring!

You just found out you are pregnant! You want to tell everyone you see the exciting news, but should you tell them already, or is it best to wait?

Once you find out you are pregnant, it can be hard to keep that news to yourself. But many people believe it is best to keep the news to yourself until you have entered your second trimester. Many people think sharing the news with family and close friends is fine, and yet others keep the news totally between the parents until they have made it through that scary first trimester.

Miscarriages are probably more common than people think, especially in the first trimester. The chances of having a miscarriage will drop to about 10% after your first trimester. Based on those numbers along it seems better to wait to share the news. If you spread the news too far during that first trimester, it is harder to go back and share the bad news if something terrible does happen.

Facebook, Instagram and other social media platforms are filled with cute pregnancy announcements and it can be hard not to jump on that bandwagon right after you find out. Parents creating cute videos or photos with just themselves or with their current children are fun to look at so you likely want to make one yourself. Many people believe that just sharing the news with family is best for that first trimester. You can still share in your good news, but not with your entire social media “family”.

When to share the wonderful news that you are pregnant is a choice that can only be made by you and your partner, and everyone will make their own decision as to when to make that announcement. However, the majority of people seem to agree that it is best to wait to spread the news until you are past the first trimester and the chances of a successful pregnancy are much greater.
