Does Dyeing Easter Eggs with Kool Aid Work?

Last year I tried out kool aid as a test and it seems to dye eggs pretty well – so this year I talked my family into dyeing all the Easter eggs with kool aid

So I went to Walmart and went CRAZY picking out all the different colors

This is what I got

Sorry for all the salt and pepper shakers ( I was showing my parents what I got at the antique store)

SOOOO I also thought the green packets were going to be green in color – it was not — quick tip ( which I am sure you already knew – the color of the Kool-Aid is the color of what the liquid in the glass on the packaging)

If you look at the green packet you will see that it is pink/red in color ( the green was Strawberry Kiwi )

Some quick tips on the Kool Aid colors when you  – the grape will look like a dark gray – my tip is to add a little blue ( Mixed berry powder into the grape)

Also the yellow was WAY TOO light – I added a little orange and it turned out much better

The Cherry was very pink ( FYI )

My two favorites hands down was the Black Cherry – left the eggs with a nice rich red and the Mixed Berry – I LOVE LOVE the blue color

Here is my family dyeing the eggs 🙂

My family was not completely trusting in dyeing eggs with kool-aid so my mom got a normal set to dye the eggs ( which we did not use except to use to dry the eggs)

I was also surprised how little of a mess it all was – usually my hands are dyed for days

Each bowl had 2 packets of kool – aid to 1/2 cup of lukewarm water – that is the ratio that worked for us

Here is my mom hard at work 🙂
