13 Weeks Pregnant With Twins Update

Sharing is caring!

We are ALMOST to 2nd trimester. Boy was this a hard week – feeling wise I am doing great; however, on Thursday of the week I went to the bathroom and there was blood. I am proud of myself I did not have a freak out or anything – though I could not understand why I would be bleeding. It was bright red which is worrying and it kept coming out when I wiped. First thing I did was get my at home doppler – and listened in. Both babies were doing great – heart rates were in the 140s plus I could hear them moving around. I felt a million times after that – so something caused me to bleed but the babies are good. Of course this is RIGHT after I announced the pregnancy to all of you. I will be honest it makes me feel more pressure that this news is public.

Next I called my OB office – I had a check in scheduled for the next week. The nurse was very nice but could not offer any real advice. The final decision was made that I would add an ultrasound to my visit the next week. This news slightly made me happy – since I was not planning on seeing them until 20 weeks. I asked if I could come in earlier and I got the answer there is little they could do if there is something wrong which is 100% but it is nerve wracking for me — longest 5 days of my life. I was so happy to have the doppler so I did little check ins daily till the ultrasound so that made me feel better. The worst part was the nurse kept calling the ultrasound a “fetus viability” ultrasound – which I know is the technical name but it broke me every time I heard it. I will post all about the ultrasound and results in the next update. In all it was an emotional week.

I have been following you for a long time and I feel like I know you. (Because you are so open online) My heart started breaking for you when I was reading your update. I really hope everything is okay. Either way, thank you for sharing and being real about how life is.

I had to do fertility treatments too.. initially the entire family on both side was all up in our business and when I was pregnant the first time they all knew it the same day we did.. so when I miscarried, I had to tell everyone and that broke me as bad as losing the baby… When we went back to try again.. we told NO ONE. My husband even learned to give the shots so we could keep it secret. Just before my 6th week I had a bleeding incident. Not just a little either. We had drive to a hospital to visit my husband’s grandpa but stopped at the first floor bathroom before going up to grandpa’s room and I was covered in blood.. soaked my pants nearly to the knees. (WHITE pants!) We went back to the nurses station and called our doctor. Got the same thing you did.. that if something was happening, there was little they could do.. It was one of the scariest moments! I went on to the ER by my doctor and got checked out.. They could not find a reason for the bleeding. Everything was intact and fine. I was still worried so the doc did a sonogram and we got to hear our son’s hearbeat at 6 weeks! It was amazing. Sending you good thoughts and prayers!

I went through that same scare while I was caring. I was told to get off my feet till the bleeding stopped. I am kind of shocked you was not told to do that. It would happen a few times while I was pregnant and each time I had to go on bed rest till the blood stopped. I went on to carry may little girl full term. I hope this helps you some.

I’m 20 weeks myself and I know how nerve wracking the first trimester is. A lot of technical terms being thrown at you whole trying not to worry. We’re having a boy and by what I was told a long time ago a heart rate like that generally indicates boys. I know my daughters heart rate was above 150 throughout my entire pregnancy.
