$5 Farm Stand Bouquet Experiment – Can I Turn Garden Flowers Into Profit?

$5 Farm Stand Bouquet Experiment – Can I Turn Garden Flowers Into Profit?
Living just outside Portland in a semi-rural area has inspired me to try something new this summer — a tiny farm stand experiment with almost no upfront cost and zero local advertising.
As someone who loves budgeting, side hustles, and creative ways to make extra money, I thought it would be fun to document what actually sells at a small self-serve farm stand over time. This is officially the start of a new series here on Budget Savvy Diva where I’ll share the real numbers, wins, failures, and lessons learned.
For today’s experiment, I made 5 mason jar flower bouquets for my stand.
Here’s the breakdown:
- Free mason jars from a neighbor
- About $5 spent on extra flowers
- The rest came straight from my garden — including fresh lavender, daisies, and rosemary
Each bouquet is priced at $4.
If all 5 bouquets sell, that would bring in $20 total — turning a $5 investment into $20 in sales. That’s exactly the kind of low-risk side hustle experiment I love.
The weather forecast is also working in my favor today. We’re expecting temperatures in the 70s with some sunshine, which usually means more people out driving through the area.
My goal with this project is simple: spend as little as possible, use what I already have, and learn what people actually want to buy from a roadside farm stand.
I’ll be checking the stand throughout the day and updating how many bouquets sell. Honestly, I have no idea what will happen — but that’s part of the fun.
Be sure to watch my TikTok video below to see how I set everything up!
@budgetsavvydiva How many will I end up selling today?! Most everything is from my garden. I did buy $5 worth of flowers to fill it out. The stand gets a decent amount of foot traffic #farmstand #farmstandsetup ♬ A Summer Place – Hollywood Strings Orchestra
