How to Make Your Ice Last Longer in Your Cooler

In order to keep your ice as long as possible without melting, be sure to fill the cooler all the way up to the top even if your cooler is not full.

The ice will melt faster if the cooler contains a lot of air that is room temperature.

    We used to have a real problem with ice melting in Las Vegas. We would fill the large cooler up but it would melt very quickly. We remedied that by putting dry ice in the bottom of the cooler, put a layyer of brown paper or plastic on top of that, a layer of ice, fill with drinks etc. and cover with ice. I promise you, your ice will last a long time and the contents will be very cold. If it works in 120+degree days at lake Meade it’ll work anyplace.
