Sharing is caring!

You may have heard the term ‘superfoods’ before. This refers to foods that are densely packed with nutrients that your body needs to be as healthy as possible. If you ever had to find homeopathic chest congestion relief when you have had a cold, you know that it is not fun to get sick.

The good news is that a diet rich with superfoods helps strengthen the immune system, which, in turn, helps you fight off viruses, bacteria, and other germs. Even if you do happen to get sick, if you generally eat healthy, there is a better chance your symptoms will be minimal and that you will get better quickly.

High Vitamin & Mineral Content

One of the things that superfood for cold & flu have is a high amount of vitamins and minerals. Vitamins like C and D are important for immune function, as are minerals such as iron, zinc, and selenium. Not only does a diet high in these nutrients help boost the immune system, but they also support all other bodily systems so they function at a higher level. Fruits and vegetables are great sources of nutrients, but so are protein sources and other food items:

  • Fruits and vegetables: spinach, strawberries, bell peppers, blueberries, goji berries, citrus fruits, broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, onions, garlic, mushrooms, brussels sprouts, and blackberries
  • Protein sources: red meat, poultry, salmon, tuna, sardines, oysters, and beans
  • Miscellaneous superfoods: pecans, brazil nuts, green tea, and dark chocolate
