7 Changes to Enhance the Beauty of Your Home

Sharing is caring!

We are all after the creature comforts of a cozy home. And while some of us out there have the knowledge and ability to get stuck into things ourselves, we aren’t all blessed with these abilities. We can certainly hire someone to do some renovations, but this is time and money that many people can’t afford.

The good news is that there are some small, simple, and inexpensive renovations that you can easily do around your home to boost its overall look and make it feel like you have put in more work than you really have. These changes are well worth trying, from buying new armchairs from RJ Living to revamping your outside entertainment area.

Create Open Space

Open floor plans are prevalent in modern home design. It makes the area feel bigger and brighter, allowing spaces to flow and creating a more cohesive look. In addition, most homes are built already, excluding unnecessary walls and blocks. But creating this open feeling yourself is easier than you think.

Consider getting rid of bigger, bulkier pieces of furniture that take up too much space. If you have a strong connection to a piece like this, softening the color will help it blend better into the environment and create an illusion of more space. Additionally, you can move around your furniture to find the optimal layout that makes the most open area available.

Spruce-Up Your Bathroom

Bathrooms can get dirty and dingy pretty quickly compared to most areas of the home. But before you start any kind of makeover, you need to give it a thorough clean. It isn’t the most exciting job, but the shining surfaces will be a great motivator to continue.

Change outdated accents first; these small changes can make a huge difference—items like old doorknobs, light fixtures, faucets, and shower curtains. Additionally, you can look to replace broken or worn tiles and repaint cabinets with bright, bold colors. Finally, add some new, plush towels, and the difference will be very noticeable.

Landscape Your Yard

Too often, we put most of our focus on the inside of our home and neglect the outside. But planting a few trees and some flower bushes just doesn’t cut it, and the lackluster effort can make your home look rather sad.

Start by visiting your local garden center. They will have plenty of goodies to choose from and experts available to talk to and get some much-needed advice if you don’t have green fingers. Simple changes like raised flowerbeds and planting new items with more thought and strategy are all excellent places to begin.

Add New Lighting

Lighting is something that can make or break a room. It is something that many experts stress to those renovating their homes never to overlook or underestimate. It has the ability to make a room look bigger or smaller than it is, as well as create an entirely new ambiance with a flick of a switch.

You can look to switching standing lamps with ceiling options to open up floor space if you are after more room. Alternatively, strategically placed floor lamps in dark corners can open up the space and make the room look bigger.

Add Removable Wallpaper

Before your brain jumps back to the hideous wallpaper your grandparents had when you were growing up, know that the current removable wallpaper is an absolute game changer. Not only does it come in an array of beautiful colors and designs to fit any theme you can dream of, the paper easily peels away from the wall, causing no damage, and can be used again.

As a fun and easy weekend project, you can repaper any wall in your home for an instant revamp. And if you end up not liking it, simply peel it off and try it somewhere different. This is an excellent option for renting when you are usually restricted from making significant changes.

Update Cabinets and Finishes

It seems like something so small and relatively insignificant. But the truth is, nothing makes your home look more dated and dreary than old, worn finishes like cabinet handles, light switches, and door knobs. Considering how easy it is to update, you don’t have an excuse to leave them as they are.

There are loads of different options at very reasonable prices available at your local hardware or home store. Of course, what you ultimately choose is up to you, and you can easily buy one of a few designs to test out before fully committing. But the overall effect will give your home a cleaner, more polished appearance.

Refresh & Repaint

If the prospect of making any design decisions seems a little too overwhelming, simply giving your entire home a very good clean can make a massive difference in how it looks. It certainly is an eye-opener at home dirty things are that you assume are clean. A deep clean will also allow you to declutter, making your home more open and organized.

Alternatively, you can give walls and cabinets a fresh coat of paint and stop there. It isn’t a massive change, but it can have very noticeable and desirable results. Many small changes can add up to something big.
