Inexpensive Valentine’s Day Date Ideas

Sharing is caring!

With Valentine’s Day coming up – TOMORROW – I though a frugal valentine’s day post was in order.

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner. Often dubbed the most romantic day in the year, Valentine’s Day is a time for love. Remember, just because you aren’t married, or do not have a boyfriend or girlfriend, does not necessarily mean that you can not have a Valentine and celebrate this special day. In fact, your children, your friends, anyone can qualify to be your Valentine. It’s about loving someone, not necessarily being “in love” with someone. And Valentine’s Day is a day to recognize that connection and spend some quality time together.

Stroll In The Park

Sometimes, it is difficult to escape away for a romantic, candlelit dinner on Valentine’s Day, so consider taking a stroll in the park. Walking hand in hand, talk about anything that comes to mind. You might wish to bring a wine and cheese picnic or bring a book to read together and a blanket. If you are strolling in a park with ducks, consider bringing some bread. If the park has a playground, swing together. See who can go higher. Just spend some fun, quality time together.

A Picnic Dinner (or Lunch)

Consider packing up a picnic from home. Sandwiches, cold chicken, salads and fruits, make for a great picnic. Grab a bottle of wine, or simply pack some coffee or hot chocolate if it’s chilly out. Make a special dessert to enjoy together. Cookies, brownies, chocolate cheesecake, and anything chocolate, make terrific desserts. You might even go on the picnic just to enjoy an hour of dessert and wine.

Photo Session

There are two ways you can do this. Either have a friend or relative set up a photo session for you, or go to an inexpensive portrait studio, such as Sears or Wal-Mart and have fun. I recommend having a friend do it, because then you can take as many shots as you want with a digital camera or at least 36 for the cost of a roll of film and developing. Set up your photos in many different ways. Be romantic, be goofy, show how much you love each other. It’s a fun way to spend some time together and you’ll be able to have those photos to remember that time always.

Pizza and a Movie

Order pizza for dinner and ask if they would mind cutting it into a heart shape. Most places don’t mind at all, and actually thin it’s cute. When it’s delivered your partner will be very surprised. Eat your heart shaped pizza while watching a rented romantic movie. Perhaps purchase a box of chocolates or make a dessert and eat dessert with champagne. Very sweet and romantic.

No matter what you do with your loved ones on Valentine’s Day, remember to tell them how much you love them and how happy you are that they are in your life.
