NEWS: Budget Savvy Diva’s Blender ATTACKED Her!

Sharing is caring!

Oh blender….. why did you fail me so!

So last night I was in the middle of making a recipe ( which will be posted tonight) – which called for the hot content of the recipe ( almost boiling hot) to be blended in the blender. So I whipped out my blender that I have had a little over a year – put about half of the content into it and blended – worked like a charm. Then I put the 2nd half of the recipe into the blender. I try and fit it into place but it is all wonky. I sorta blacked out on what happened next – I tried to fit the bottom part that hold the blades in place then next thing I knew ALL of the HOT contents of the blender were on my left hand and arm ( there was about 1.5 cups of contents). I quickly got my hand/arm under cold water ( my hand and arm are currently bandaged ) then cleaned up the kitchen and managed to finish the recipe since I had the first batch already done.

So I am no professional chef but I know how to use a blender. So after dinner I took a look and the bottom part that holds the blade in place was COMPLETELY  cracked. I tried taking a picture of it but it is not coming out well  – but I did include a picture below of another blender with the part.

NOT Budget Savvy Diva's Blender

It is the black portion that cracked – it is made out of plastic.I have NO idea how or why it would crack.

Now this is my question to y’all.

Should I buy a new plastic piece and keep using the blender?

There is no more warranty on my current blender

or should this blender go to blender heaven and should I buy a new one?

Leave what you think in the comment section 😉

I think I would take the opportunity to replace it. It probably is a flaw in the manufacturing of the plastic. Blenders aren’t that expensive. Even though you haven’t used it very much, it’s better to have the reassurance that hopefully the new one won’t have the same problem.

I’d say go for a new one because:
-after you factor in the cost of the part and the shipping you’re already about half way to a new blender anyway.
-you know that part is unreliable, to say the least.
-with a new one you can evaluate the parts to find one that isn’t going to have you running into the same problem.
Hope your hand/arm heals quickly. Good luck with your decision.

Get a new blender. I use mine all the time for when I am cooking hot things (I even used it last night to make mole) and have never had that happen (thank goodness) but if I did I would buy a new one instead of replacing the piece that broke because you will have a new warranty and everything 🙂 Plus you get to shop for a good deal on a blender. 🙂

I think it depends on the cost of the blender. If yours was a really expensive, high quality blender, but a replacement. If yours was a less expensive, low or medium quality blender, replace the whole thing. I would guess the hot contents are what caused the crack, so maybe buying a high end blender that can handle the hotter liquids would be a good idea if you plan to use hot contents in the future.

I have the Oster Beehive blender if that’s what you have. So far, so good after 3 years. Personally, for blending soups, I use my immersion blender stick. Don’t have to do 2 batches. Nothing blows up at you. You can usually get one at Target or Walmart for 20$. I wouldn’t try and replace the old broken piece. Parts are expensive….if you can even find them.

email the manufacturer- and include your picture. see if they won’t replace the part for free or better yet send you a new one. It’s probably a manu defect. That could have been a very bad burn and I would think they would want to rectify the situation immediately! Wishing you a speedy recovery! And I would send them the medical bill also if it needed medical attention….

Get a NINJA blender. They are awesome and well-worth the cost. You can make “snow” with ice, iced coffees, frappe’s, smoothies, soups, salsas. . .the list goes on.
