You know when there is a recipe that you hear about and you simply HAVE TO make it — well this is one of those. Orange soda chicken c’mon….I did beef up the recipe by adding onion and garlic with a bunch of spices. The end result was pretty yummy though I would of cut up the chicken into smaller pieces because the orange flavoring is a little light for my palate.
What You Need
12 ounces of Orange Soda
1/2 Cup of Soy Sauce ( I used gluten free soy sauce worked great)
1 pound of skinless chicken breast – cut into pieces I suggest smaller pieces about 3 oz
Cooked Rice
1 clove of garlic minced
1 Teaspoon of Pepper
Pinch of Salt
1 Teaspoon of Garlic Powder
1 Teaspoon of Onion Powder
1 Tablespoon of Olive Oil
1 Cup of Chopped Onions
What To Do
In a skillet heat the oil and add onions and cook for 8-10 mins ( till tender and brown). Add garlic to pan and cook for 2 minutes.
Put onion mixture into your crock pot ( set it to low).
Add soda and soy sauce and mix.
Add chicken – make sure the liquid is fully covering the chicken
Cook on low for 2 – 3 hours. Make sure to make the rice ( I use a rice cooker) right before serving.
Enjoy!
