BIG Black Friday News – JCPenney, Macy’s, and Kohls

Sharing is caring!

Capture** Black Friday News **

JC Penney – like Macy’s and Kohls will be doing a early Black Friday time ( I personally love great deals —- BUT I like enjoying Thanksgiving dinner so I am not too pleased by this)

All these retailers will have Black Friday starting at 8 pm on Thanksgiving

What is REALLY interesting is that FREE Disney Snow Globes at JCPenney on Black Friday ( but that will be happening in the morning)

So if you want to get the globe and all the deals you need to go to JC Penneys twice — kinda weird right?

I would love to know what you think about this new alert

I personally don’t like it. Not only do I like to enjoy Thanksgiving Dinner, but my family and I celebrate both Christmas and Hanukkah. Hanukkah starts the night before Thanksgiving this year, so either I can’t celebrate Hanukkah with my kids (we don’t light the candles until sundown) or I can’t get the good deals for their Christmas presents………

Huh, I work at Kohl’s part time, so this is disappointing to say the least. I could potentially have to go to work at 8pm? I’d be very angry. I have always felt bad for the retail workers on holidays. We all need time to be able to enjoy our family without having to worry about work, don’t we?

I have never worked retail but have always been bothered by the stores that are open on days when employees should be with family. It is ridiculous that they can’t just leave Black Friday to be Black Friday and not interfere with Thanksgiving. Thank you for doing what you do and know that you are appreciated even if your employer thinks more about their bottom line than their employees getting time w/ their families.

The only way to avoid the sales starting earlier and earlier every year is to avoid going to them. Let’s keep our holidays a special day by not leaving Thanksgiving dinner early to save $20.

I work at macy’s, so I’ll be at work at 7:30 pm Thanksgiving night, personally it doesn’t bother me too much because most of my family lives too far to see anyways, but for the average person I know it’s hugely inconvenient, however I do like that a lot of stores have multiple deals, that start at different times because that gives me a chance to try to get some things by the time I’m off without everything already being gone.

That is so not worth taking time away from family. I feel bad for the people that have to work. I think midnight is early enough!

  • kohlsworker

actually, Kohl’s hasn’t come out to say what time they will be opening for Black Friday yet. They won’t do so until November 1, and it’s quite possible the hours will be EVEN EARLIER than 8 pm. Yes, it sucks, but we have to compete with the other store openings, and either Target or JCPenney is actually opening at 4pm.

I am voting with my money against this practice by refusing to shop on Thanksgiving. Can’t we be thankful with what we have for one whole day without running out to buy more? I sympathize with those that have to work it.

Perhaps if we all stay home with our families on Thanksgiving (all day and evening), we would send a message to the retailers that it’s called “Black Friday” for a reason…it happens on FRIDAY. Next we’ll be extending it to the Monday before Thanksgiving :-(.

  • Karen

I think it is silly ! Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday and I don’t plan to go out shopping early on that day. I tried Black Friday shopping last year and really did not find anything that I just had to have. I started shopping already so I am not hit with a bunch of bills at the end of the year !

this is terrible…..the CEOs of these companys get to sit at home and relax with their familiies while the retail workers are forced into working these terrible hours…..it’s not fair to them at all, and they shouldn’t be forced into it…..if it was given to them as an option fine, but it isn’t

i feel very bad for the people who work to put food on the table and won’t be able to enjoy it this year

i WILL NOT be shopping on black friday

  • irishbrat38

I think this is horrible. While it may be great for people looking for deals….what about the employees who don’t get to spend time with their families on Thanksgiving just so you can save a few dollars on cheaply made items? Seems pretty selfish to me!

  • 5kidscallmemom

I agree with the “boycott on Thanksgiving” sales. Are we that greedy that we cannot possibly wait until the crack of dawn on Friday? It makes me sad for those that must work on Thursday 🙁

  • Randi Greene

I have to be at work at 9am on Black Friday so I won’t be doing any Black Friday shopping. I will miss it this year. It needs to just stay on Black Friday. I don’t like going out Thanksgiving night. Did that last year and it just felt wrong.

  • Debbie

Why can’t shoppers get it…does it matter if the store offers you these sales on Thanksgiving at 8pm, Friday at midnight, or Friday at 6am…they would still have the
same prices no matter when they open…do you think they would change their discount strategy just because they don’t open at 8pm Thanksgiving…Let’s start saying no to the CEOs sitting at home watching TV clips of people running into their stores and away from the Thanksgiving Family Table and yes to shopping on Friday at normal hours…give the retail workers a break, after all most are only making minimum wage and can’t afford to lose their job by not reporting to work

  • Lori

For the first time in 15 years, I think I will miss black Friday. This is generally a tradition that my mother and I have done for years. But I will not support losing such an important family holiday to go shopping. I hope others stand up to this craziness and maybe it will go back to the way it used to be.

  • Amber

I was upset that they opened at 8 last year. 10 would have been ok, that way I’m not out all night and employees still have time with family. But since when did Black Friday become Black Thursday???

  • retail worker

Everyone complain about retail opening on Thanksgiving, and we should boycott it. That is great everyone should be home on Thanksgiving. What about all you people who love to go to movies on Thanksgiving, do those workers count. People will shop on Thanksgiving after they have dinner no matter what.
