I have been all about crafts lately I really think it is due to Fall. I have been toying with this idea for a while and I finally decided to make it. If you did not know my parents own a 100 year old farm house with a barn. This barn has this huge scrape wood pile from 100 years worth of work – I was able to snag this oak and I decided to make a DIY Dog Leash and Treat Holder for my parents.
I went to Target to buy all the other supplies I needed. I needed some dog treats and I decided on Purina Beyond Snacks at Target. I want to keep China healthy ( which is why I am making the Dog Leash and Dog Treat Holder). What I like about the Purina Beyond snacks is that they are made in small batches and are grain free. They are also made in America ( in Arkansas to be exact).
There are no artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives either. Also China loves them ( that helps too). They are really the perfect pairing for her active lifestyle.
This is what you will need for this DIY.
Like I said before I used reclaimed wood. Ask neighbors or family to see if they have some. I had my dad cut the wood into a rectangle – the side will depend on the glass jar you decide to use. I decided on making a base for the glass jar to fit into. Make sure to cut the wood depending the size of the jar.
You will also need a hook for the leash.
On the back side I used old wire to create the hanger for the holder.
Using wood glue or nails attach the base and the sides. Let it stand overnight. You can also use nails – but I am going to easy.
The wood was free – the glass container and hanger cost $6 together – so this is a $6 DIY – and I saw similar online for $60!
Fill your glass jar with Purina Beyond Snacks. Hang the holder and you are ready! I hung the holder right next to the front door. Make sure to add the leash. Enjoy!
