Do you eat yogurt?  I know I do – my favorite brand is Dannon and I am so excited to share this awesome information to you. Do you worry about GMO’s? I know I do. I love that Dannon has been listening – all products are evolving to use non GMO ingredients. This is so important – especially for our kids.

GMO’s are a huge concern for mom’s who are careful about what their families are eating and clear labeling is very attractive for those of us who want to know quickly what is going into our food without having to take a time out from shopping to do a web search on the definitions of ingredients.  More and more it is becoming important to watch what we eat and understand the contents of our food.

That’s what shoppers like me have been saying for the last few years and Dannon, in particular, has been listening.  They’ve taken some time to address these important issues and have come back with an answer.  In order to provide more options, Dannon is evolving all products from Dannon, Oikos and Danimals toward the use of non GMO only ingredients!

Not only that but Dannon is considering what the cows eat and working with farmers and feed suppliers to start planting non GMO feed.  When this is done these three brands will be made from milk produced by cows fed only non GMO feed.

All this is anticipated to happen by the end of 2017.  While GMO’s are not necessarily unsafe Dannon understands the growing demand for non GMO products and believes in responsible use of resources and strong relationships with farmers to make this option available to discerning consumers. This makes me so happy! I cannot wait till the change is 100% complete – this is a very important change.

“It’s our mission to bring health through food to as many people as possible, and it’s our passion to help people enjoy the benefits of yogurt every day in a sustainable way. While this commitment is ambitious, we believe it’s necessary to continue to serve Americans using a sustainable and transparent model. -Mariano Lozano, President and CEO of The Dannon Company.”

In addition, Dannon is taking initiative and working independently of regulatory measures of the federal government to make more transparent labeling for its products which will state if GMO’s are present.  Dannon is the first leading yogurt manufacturer to sources all of its milk directly from farms they know and more than 90% of Dannons milk supply comes from farms that are Validus certified.

Dannon’s pledge to move away from GMO products is cause for celebration, and you can join the party on Facebook for a chance to win prizes.  The party is on Tuesday, July 12, at 10:00 am.  Find out more here.
