    Hi Sara,
If you like Mexican food one place I recommend is a very good place called Los Cocuos. There is either one on westheimer or on clay rd. Just google it. They have the best Mexican food in the area.

The original Whole Foods in Austin isn’t far from BookPeople and is TONS of fun to eat in — they have so many different food stations to choose from. Good luck with your signing — BookPeople is a great store and they will take wonderful care of you.

In Houston-Los Cucos or Gringos for Tex Mex, Babins for Seafood, Taste of Texas…those are all close by where you will be

In Austin-Stubbs BBQ, right across from Book People is Waterloo Records (excellent place to find non-mainstream music!) which has a diner attached, The Brick Oven for Italian, Amy’s for Ice Cream. There’s SO much you’ll be sure to find something!

    Enjoy your trip!

    Have fun and enjoy.
I lived in Austin and Dallas for about 20 years and it is the best place in the US to live. People are nice and love the US.
We are now in Alabama to be close to family.
There are so many good places to eat and to shop, you won’t have any problems finding great places.

Dangit–our favorite place to eat in Austin was one of the food trucks, called Gourdough’s. Incredible doughnuts, with funky names and different flavors, but I know that you eat gluten free, so that probably isn’t an option.

But, there is also a fairly large food truck lot, I believe on Congress Ave–so many choices that I know *someone* has to have gluten free food for you to choose from.
