Growing up we cooked a ton in the kitchen – but on nights when we would want to relax and watch t.v my dad would pick up dinner at Panda Express
Our Panda Express was located IN THE MIDDLE of a super market ( isn’t that a little strange)
Regardless my order was the same for 15 years –  Panda Express Orange Chicken Recipe 🙂 I * heart*  Panda Express Orange Chicken Recipe SO much but sadly it has gluten ( flour) in it and because of my allergy I cannot have it
My brother has a similar allergy and is currently at home for a few weeks and really was craving  Panda Express Orange Chicken Recipe so I decided to make it for us
I decided to make it gluten – free also used breast meat BUT also use some fresher ingredients — this recipe is WAY tastier.
Most everything you need for this recipe is already in your pantry – the cost was not that expensive. You must make sure to have gluten – free soy sauce on hand for this recipe as well as rice flour 🙂
My dad of course helped make the recipe and put on the finishing touches to the chicken before I took the final shots. I take the picture on the ground because I am one short cookie and that is the only way I can get ALL angles
Can I tell you that this orange chicken tasted better than  Panda Express Orange Chicken
Panda Express Orange Chicken Recipe - Gluten Free
Ingredients
- Chicken
- 2 lbs boneless skinless chicken, chopped into bite sized pieces
- 1 large egg
- 1½ teaspoons salt
- 1½ teaspoon of white pepper
- oil (for frying)
- ½ cup cornstarch
- ¼ cup white rice flour (Bulk Section)
- 1 tablespoon ginger
- 1 teaspoon garlic
- ½ teaspoon crushed hot red chill pepper
- ¼ cup green onion, chopped
- 1 tablespoon white vinegar
- ¼ cup water
- ½ teaspoon sesame oil
- Orange Sauce
- 1½ tablespoons soy sauce
- 1½ tablespoons water
- 5 tablespoons sugar
- 5 tablespoons white vinegar
- 1 orange - zest
Instructions
- Heat Oil in a Large Skillet - you want it to be at leach 1½ inch deep of oil
- Cut up chicken into bitesize pieces - place in a bowl
- In another bowl - whisk - egg, salt, pepper, and 1 tablespoon of cooking oil
- In another bowl - mix flour and cornstarch together
- Place chicken into the egg mixture - mix till well coated
- Dip chicken into the flour mixture - coat well
- Fry chicken in batches for a few minutes ( I always test a piece to make sure of the cooking time) - place cooked chicken onto a paper towel
- In another bowl whisk the ingredients for the orange sauce
- Place the chicken in the sauce and coat well
- Enjoy
