I had a great get together with a couple of friends and family the other night after a long and hard day’s work. I was exhausted, but I was looking forward to the quality time and some good wine and conversation. The only problem—It was right around dinner time and my kitchen was so clean! I needed a simple solution. I wanted to serve something to my company that they would really enjoy and my leftover shepherd’s pie was out of the question. The kitchen was closed.

I threw open the fridge to see if I had anything to go with the cheese and the fruit I had prepared for the evening. I wanted something heartier that would eliminate my guests desire for a full meal. Behind the shepherd’s pie, standing aloof in the corner was a bag of Gallo Dry Sliced Salami I planned to use for a flatbread recipe.

It would perfectly round out the platter I planned to serve and it would complement the red wine I chose with its peppery notes and robust bouquet.

I had just enough time to put together my inspired dish and my guests came calling. I cut up some limes at the last second do give the Gallo Salami a fresh burst of flavor. The first thing they noticed was the full spread on my cutting board. They devoured the apples and the cheese, but the biggest hit by far was the Gallo Dry Sliced Salami.

They thought I had planned it that way. Until I had to go back to the kitchen to get more!

How I make a cheese plate is get tons of interesting fruits and veggies. This is an important steps that a lot of people miss – I picked up grapes, tomatoes, limes, olives, and apples. Along with the produce I used bread sticks and a tons of different cheeses. There is no wrong way to put together a cheese plate.

Make sure not to forget Gallo Salame

If you see Gallo Dry Sliced Salami at Walmart, I recommend picking some up to work into your dinner plans or to spruce up any snack. Incorporating it into my cheese and fruit plate gave the whole assortment an added level of flavor that kept my friends going back for more of everything. The wine hardly even came up in conversation, except to say how well it complemented the salami.
