If you are traveling, there is nothing worse than realizing you forgot something important. Or you find yourself in a situation where if you were at home you would have exactly what you need to fix it. Here is a list of some of the most common items many hotels will provide for free. You just gotta ask.

Toothpaste and Toothbrushes

One of the most common items requested at the hotel front desk is a toothbrush and toothpaste. Whether we forgot or ran out during our stay, most hotels are more than happy to provide a replacement.

Razors

One of the items most of us forget at home is a razor. For women, maybe we didn’t plan on hopping in the pool. Or for men you thought you could make it an extra day without a shave. Either way most hotels will have some behind the front desk.

Hair Care Appliances

If you forgot your hair straightener, or didn’t think you would need your curling iron, many top hotel chains have some you can borrow. Just call your front desk and ask.

Extra Pillows and Blankets

For some the comfort of home is having a couple extra pillows or blankets on hand. Most hotels will bring them up to your room for you when asked. Some even store a couple in the closet.

Nightlights

If you travel with small kids, the darkness of a hotel room can sometimes make it hard for them to sleep. If you find yourself in this situation make a call to the front desk to see if they have any nightlights you can borrow. Chances are they do.

Earplugs

Traveling with your spouse who snores, or a family member you didn’t realize was a sleep talker? Call the front desk and inquire about ear plugs. Many hotels have some on hand just in case.

Sewing Kits

Headed out for a big event while traveling only to find you ripped a hole in the pants you planned to wear? Call the front desk and see if they have any sewing kits before you head out to buy some new clothes. Most will have some on hand for guests to use in case of emergency.
