I knew this was coming. If you have no idea what I am talking about go HERE for the background.
We finally had an appointment with the urologist. His hydrocele is pretty severe so surgery is really the only option. To explain the surgery I went to google because I wanted to make sure I got this right – “The surgeon makes a small surgical cut in the fold of the groin, and then drains the fluid. The sac (hydrocele) holding the fluid may be removed. The surgeon strengthens the muscle wall with stitches. This is called a hernia repair.” For Lachlan the fluid comes and goes – but sometime the region is as big as a Mandarin orange. They say it does not hurt him but there is no way you can have swelling like that without some pain. It should only take about 1 hour they said and he will be given something through a face mask to help him sleep. I am happy that it is out-patient. But I know he will be in pain afterwards and that hurt this mama’s heart.
I know it is only for a short while. The surgery is on February 1st – so all good thoughts are appreciated. I will keep everyone updated. I want to do something special for him once he is home – so any ideas are appreciated. 100% he will have access to all the mama cuddles he could want.
