Frugal Eats – Sundae’s!!! SOOO YUMMY

Sharing is caring!

Did you know that at the time this post is published it is the 119th anniversary of the first documented ice cream sundae?  I wanted to celebrate one of greatest dessert traditions with a sundae of my own.  To really make it fun I made it frugal too!

Frugal Eats

I thought it would be an awesome idea to make a small project out of this to include it as one of my Frugal Eats.  These special recipes are inspired by ingredients I either have on hand or purchase at a really reduced price.  I’m always on the lookout for a great deal and Frugal Eatsis how I put those savings to great use!  For another frugal sweet, try my Apple Pie Chocolate Chip Cookies.  Try my Dutch Country Dirt Sundae recipe, too!

My Frugal Sundae

One of the great things about sundaes is that you can build them however you like!  That also happens to be one of the tricks to making them frugal.  You don’t have to go too basic.  The secret is snagging the right deals.  I got all the goodies and they ended up less than $10.00! That’s ice cream, fudge, toppings…EVERYTHING! Most of the candy, I was able to buy on clearance at Blockbuster Video!!

Here is my Sundae!
frugal sundaeI had so much fun developing this sundae just like I wanted it to be, using items I got at a really great price.  I started Chocolate and Vanilla Ice Cream for the base and filled it in with with Gluten Free Hot Fudge.  Then I topped it with Whipped Cream, Chopped Peanuts , Red Hots, and my favorite – POP ROCKS!  I love candy!!

Eric’s ( Hubby’s ) Sundae

Eric likes a more traditional sundae, so he skipped the candy toppings that made mine so good.  Still, he swears his Chocolate and Vanilla Ice Cream with Gluten Free Hot Fudge, Whipped cream, and Chopped Peanuts is the way to go.  Even MORE frugal! : )
