As I near the end of pregnancy, the discomfort of my growing baby trying to tunnel out is intense. I have had all kinds of contractions varying in intensity. When baby moves, it’s a huge shift to everything inside of me. It’s no wonder that the third trimester is one where most women struggle with sleep. It’s hard getting the rest they need. By following the advice from Always Eat After 7 PM, I have been able to eat when I am hungriest. That gives my body the edge it needs to sleep more soundly through the night. I love that the book follows through on this concept with easy to follow meal plans and food education.

 “A research paper published in Sports Medicine in 2014 showed that people who eat the majority of their carbs at dinner actually sleep better. Carb-induced, quality sleep decreases cortisol (a fat-storing hormone) and ramps up the production of your sleep hormones, serotonin, and melatonin. In addition, eating later curbs calorie intake and leaves you more satisfied in the morning, so you can skip breakfast. That part of the program really fits into my personal life and allows me to follow it more closely. There are also plenty of good recipe ideas including hearty meals like a Cheesy Beef Skillet and a Chili Loaded Baked Potato. The diet doesn’t shy away from sweets either. Some of my favorites are Fruit Tarts, No-Bake Salted Caramel Bars, and even Cherry Garcia Ice Cream.
