Simple Asian Recipes You Can Prepare

Most food enthusiasts don’t mind visiting some of the best restaurants offering Asian cuisines to enjoy good meals. Additionally, some will also travel to various parts of Asia just to taste authentic dishes from the community. Some will even take their love of Asian food up a notch by replicating favorites from their own kitchen.

Preparing Asian dishes at home may be easier than you think. They are easy to make and take less time to cook. Additionally, most ingredients like sesame seeds, ginger, and garlic can be purchased from a local store. You can also buy pad see ew noodles, chilies, rice, and other components online at the comfort of your home.

Here are some Asian dishes you can easily prepare by yourself and enjoy with the rest of the family:

  • Thai Larb Gai

This is one delicious meal that you should try. It’s a famous chicken salad in Thailand and is prepared with chilies, mint, ground chicken, and other components. It only requires 20 minutes of cooking and can be served with rice or lettuce leaves as an appetizer. Alternatively, it can be taken as a main dish.

One crucial ingredient you shouldn’t leave out is the roasted rice powder. You can make it on your own or purchase it in any Asian market near you.

To prepare Larb Gai, you’ll need the following ingredients:

  • Two Tablespoons Roasted Rice Powder
  • A 400g Piece of Ground Chicken
  • Half Teaspoon Ground Hot Chili
  • Four Teaspoons Fish Sauce
  • Five Teaspoons Fresh Lime Juice
  • A Quarter Cup Slivered Red Onions
  • Two Tablespoons Cilantro (Chopped)
  • Two Tablespoons Sliced Scallions
  • A Quarter Cup of Mint Leaves
  • Lettuce Leaves (optional)
  • Cucumber Spears
  • Four Cups Jasmine, Long-Grain, or Sticky Rice (Cooked)

Some of the tools you need are a wide pan, spatula, mixing bowl, wok, and a coffee grinder or pestle and mortar. To cook your Thai Larb Gai, follow the simple steps below:

  • If you’d like to make your rice powder, rather than buy it, you have to prepare it first. To do this, toast raw sticky rice for 3-5 minutes to a dark brown color using a wok. After that, grind the rice into a powder using a mortar and pestle or a coffee grinder.
  • The second step is to cook the chicken.  First, add two tablespoons of water to a wide cooking pan. Allow the water to simmer, then pour the ground chicken and add one tablespoon of fish sauce into the pan. Stir the chicken continuously to break any huge lumps. Keep mixing for two minutes or until the chicken is ready.
  • After it’s done, transfer your cooked chicken into a salad bowl and while it’s still warm, pour in other ingredients, except the roasted rice and garnishes. Mix the added components thoroughly, then season as preferred.
  • Once you’re done with the third step, transfer the chicken mixture to a plate, then place the mint leaves and cucumber around it. You can now serve it with your already cooked rice or eat it in lettuce leaves.

This dish is mainly prepared for dinner. However, you can cook it for lunch, since it’s easier to prepare than other meals. Also, you’re allowed to be creative with the garnish to enhance appearance and flavor.

  • Korean Egg Fried Rice
