DIY Hand Sanitizer

It’s cold & flu season.  Find out how to make your own hand sanitizer with just a few simple ingredients.

Just grab a recycled hand sanitizer bottle or an liquid soap bottle and mix the following ingredients:

1/3 cup of Aloe Vera Gel

2/3 cup Rubbing Alcohol

8-10 drops of any essential oils

As with  many hand sanitizers, this one does contain rubbing alcohol, so will dry out your skin if used too often.  So be sure to use just as needed and also keep your hands moisturized.  🙂

I made the antibacterial gel and it was an epic fail. I used 70% rubbing alcohol, 8 drops of Immunity EO and pure aloe Vera gel. After thoroughly mixing them together, the aloe turned into a separated gooey semi solid. It was liquid alcohol and hard/gooey aloe Vera.

I made basically the same recipe and the same thing happened. I had originally mixed it by simply stirring well. I dumped all of my containers back in a bowl and took a whisk to it. When it looked thoroughly mixed I whisked it some more. Returned it to the bottles. It’s been 36 hours – no seperation. Before it had separated within a few hours. Seems to be all in the mixing.

I had the same problem.. second batch I added the aloe vera into the alcohol and mixed.. (1st batch failed when I added the alcohol into the aloe vera, the aloe solidified..) so I think the trick is to add the alcohol first to your mixing container.
